What’s the difference between football in China? It is not a cold day to fall from the country of Cuju to the "national football"!

China football, every China fan feels mixed feelings when he mentions it.

Whenever the World Cup season comes, the China men’s soccer team is always in a way"spectator" and "joke"As a participant, but not as a participant.

Then, why in today’s international arena, China, as old as football civilization,But always lost to Europe, America and even Japan, which is also East Asia?

What’s wrong with this?Do we really have no DNA to play football?
The Development Course of Football in China

In 1992, this year was of special significance to China football.Marketization reformIn this year, the curtain was opened, which marked an important step towards the professionalization of football in China.

This made the whole football system become different, and the professional league was established, which provided new career opportunities for players and coaches. This also directly prompted them to start.Get economic returns from clubs and markets.Football has thus gained unprecedented attention.

However, the development of everything has two sides; Although the market-oriented reform has brought new vitality to China football, it is also accompanied by problems.

Among them,The most obvious problem is that many young players choose to leave because they are dissatisfied with the conditions of provincial and municipal teams, which leads to a large number of brain drain.; More importantly, the original reform paid too much attention to the construction of professional leagues, butForget the importance of basic training. This makes the development of football in China appear obvious "fault".

This fault problem has been exposed in the early stage, but it has not been paid enough attention.

If the infrastructure of a league is not stable, then no matter how dazzling it is, it is difficult to go far; This may explain why in the late 1990s and early 2000s,Although China football had a brief glory, it quickly fell into a downturn.

But,In addition to the above-mentioned professionalization and marketization issues, is there anyOther factorsIs it affecting the development of football in China?

These factors can be discussed from three aspects: physical fitness, technology and genes:

First of all, there are indeed differences between Asians and Africans or Europeans in physical strength and flexibility; But this difference is not purely determined by genes, and eating habits and training methods also play an indispensable role.

howeverBased on this factor alone, we can’t come to the conclusion that "China people are not suitable for playing football";

Looking back at last year’s World Cup, Japan successfully defeated the powerful German team, which clearly proved that East Asian teams can also compete with the world’s top teams.

Furthermore, football is not just a "European and American" sport; It is global, and its technology, tactics and ideas are constantly evolving on a global scale.

Simply copying the football model in Europe and America cannot guarantee success, and each region has its own unique football culture and development route;Too much pursuit of integration with Europe and the United States, but ignoring local characteristics, often brings bad consequences.

reviewAlthough China tried to imitate European football in the early stage of its professionalization, its basic work was ignored.

A solid foundation is the key to the top league. In this respect, countries like Japan and South Korea have done quite well.

They started from the foundation and gradually built a perfect football development system, with clear planning and continuous investment from youth training to top leagues.

The rise of Japanese football is largely due to their solid youth training system;Large-scale competitions such as the All-Japan High School Football Championship involve about 100,000 student players. Every year, about 4,000 teams participate in the preliminaries, and 48 teams are finally selected to enter the finals.

This is not only a competition, but also a platform to show yourself and exercise your skills. The Gaoyuan Palace Cup Japan Football Association U18 League has created a more professional stage for the youth teams of various professional clubs.

South Korea, another strong team in East Asia, is famous for its excellent physical confrontation and physical fitness; In the international arena, they can often show excellent competitive state in the confrontation with strong European teams.

South Korean star Sun Xingyu’s Premier League performance is undoubtedly the best proof.He is not only a player, but also a representative of Korean football innovation youth training;

The sports park invested and built by Sun Xingyuan in South Korea represents the new direction of Korean football-"Sun Xiongzheng mode" (Sun Xiongzheng is Sun Xingyuan’s father and a former football player in South Korea), which pays more attention to technology and basic skills.

Compared with Japan and South Korea, although their football road is different from ours, their success provides us with valuable enlightenment; Both Japan’s youth training system and South Korea’s innovative ideas on player training are worthy of our in-depth study and thinking.

At the same time,Our national team, especially the women’s football team., also has a remarkable performance on the international stage.

Compared with the men’s soccer team, why can they show better elegance in the international arena?

From the perspective of professionalism,China women’s football team is on a global scale.Degree of professionalismMore prominent;

In many countries, many women football players are stillAmateur state,But in our country, most women football players areprofessionalismofThis provides them with rich training time and helps them to form an advantage in technology and tactics.

Furthermore,Women’s football has relatively little commercial value.Make the players focus more on the performance on the court, rather than being influenced by commercial factors. This pure attitude towards the gameUndoubtedly, it has created a more pure competition environment for women football players.

On the other hand, although the men’s football team has gone through the road of professionalization, there are many problems in the promotion of marketization;

The most critical problem is the neglect of basic work. This has led to a great loss of football talents. Compared with women’s football team’s obvious attitude of paying attention to technology and basic skills, men’s football team seems to be subject to more external interference in the process of marketization.

When we look back on every glory of China women’s football team, we can deeply feel the efforts behind them; And every ups and downs of the men’s soccer team is a wake-up call, suggesting that we need to reflect deeply.

In the future, we hope that both men’s football team and women’s football team should cherish every opportunity to play, go all out, create more bright spots, win glory for our country, and bring joy and pride to every fan.

It rains and the sun shines at the same time. How is this weather formed?

On a summer day, the doll’s face changed just now, but it was sunny in Wan Li for a while. At this time, someone exclaimed that there was a "solar rain". At that time, the WeChat circle of friends was screened by a rare solar rain. Solar rain is a wonderful natural phenomenon that almost everyone has encountered, but have you ever wondered why this happened?

What is sun rain?

The phenomenon of "solar rain" is a weather phenomenon, which is called "discontinuity of horizontal distribution of precipitation" in meteorology. Solar rain usually occurs in summer, and it is more common in the south.

How is the solar rain formed?

First kind

The reason for the formation is that the rain generated by dark clouds in the distance is instantly blown to another place by high-altitude strong winds.

the second type

It is because two clouds with different charges collide with each other in the high altitude under the action of the solar wind, resulting in excessive water vapor content in the air in some areas, and the water vapor evaporates quickly due to solar radiation.

The third kind

The reason is that the weather suddenly changed and it began to rain. Before the rain from the sky landed, the clouds had disappeared, so although the weather looked sunny, it began to rain.

With rain, the sky stage is lively, and the blue sky is not so boring. We all know the formation of rain, and cloud is one of the most indispensable basic conditions. In fact, it takes a rather complicated physical process to change from cloud to rain!

Formation process of rain

Let’s look at the composition of clouds. Clouds are made up of a large number of invisible water droplets or ice crystals floating in the air, or a mixture of water droplets and ice crystals. From cloud to rain, it is actually a process in which water droplets or ice crystals grow and grow. Whether the cloud drops come down from the cloud after becoming larger is rain, snow or other forms, which mainly depends on the temperature inside and under the cloud. When the temperature in the cloud is above zero degrees Celsius, the cloud is completely composed of water droplets, and when the water droplets increase, they fall down, which is rain.Rain usually appears in four forms:

Types of rain

convectional rain

When the air is strongly heated, the hot and humid air expands and rises, and the rain formed by the cooling and condensation of water vapor in the air is called convective rain. The equatorial region is dominated by convective rain all year round, and the convective rain in our country is more common in summer afternoons.

orographic rain

Orographic precipitation was forced to climb along the hillside because the humid air was blocked by the mountain. In the process of rising, the water in the air cools and condenses to form precipitation. Such as precipitation in northeast India and southeast Tibet in China.

frontal rain

Two kinds of airflow with different properties meet, and the interface between them is called front. On the front, warm, wet and lighter air is lifted to the cold, dry and heavier air. In the process of uplift, the water vapor in the air cools and condenses, and the precipitation formed is called frontal rain.

Typhoon rain

Rainfall is a special form of rainfall, which usually occurs when a typhoon comes. The center wind force of a typhoon is generally very strong, and the maximum wind force can reach more than 12! The time of rainfall generally depends on the speed of typhoon movement, and the rainfall intensity is very large in a short time, accompanied by strong lightning and strong winds.

Who will guard the "smiling elf" in the water when the corpse is cut open and the prisoner is blind?

BEIJING, Nov. 8 (Sweet Dong Hanyang) A few days ago, a finless porpoise was floated in Dongting Lake, Yueyang, Hunan Province, with a 20-cm incision on its belly surface and two bricks falling from its tail with a rope. The staff decided that the finless porpoise was either killed and dumped.

In the spring of 2012, there was a shocking death of finless porpoises in Dongting Lake, and a total of 12 finless porpoises died.

The finless porpoise is known as the "natural smiling spirit". However, the data shows that as of July 2018, the number of finless porpoises is only about 1012, which is less than 60% of that of giant pandas. Now, another "spirit" has disappeared.

"70% of the world is covered by water, and our planet is a blue planet." Behind this well-known saying, more than 200,000 species of aquatic animals around the world continue to face survival crisis. Who is the chief culprit of the crisis?

Data map: finless porpoise.

Data map: finless porpoise.

  Suspect number one: human

M.O.: Hunting, slaughtering or keeping in captivity

The 2009 documentary "Dolphin Bay" exposed the human who laid hands on dolphins to make money. It is reported that every dolphin caught can sell for up to $150,000.

However, the blood in Dolphin Bay "can’t wake people who pretend to sleep". In 2019, the Japanese government officially withdrew from the International Whaling Commission (IWC) and restarted the commercial whaling activities suspended for 31 years.

In September, 2019, fishermen’s fishing boats in Taiji Town, Wakayama set sail again. The hunt will last until April 2020.

Statistics show that during this time of year, fishermen in Taiji Town will kill 2,000 to 3,000 dolphins. However, scientists have said that dolphin meat is not excellent in taste and nutritional value, and even its mercury content is still high, which is not good for health.

The hunter’s hand extends not only to the dolphins.

In 2014, three men and women stole 10,375 eggs from the Mexican turtle reserve, which has long been listed as an endangered animal.

In 2018, a "whale prison" appeared in the Russian Far East, where 90 beluga whales and 11 killer whales were imprisoned, of which 13 beluga whales were under one year old. Because of human imprisonment, killer whales that could have lived to be 100 years old in nature, most of them can’t live to be 30 years old in captivity.

At present, the Russian prosecutor has filed a criminal case against the relevant personnel for "illegal fishing of aquatic biological resources", and the whales in the "whale prison" will be released in three batches.

In October 2019, the staff of the protection agency "Dolphin Project" also discovered two dolphins that had been kept in captivity for 15 years in Bali and were badly abused. Because dolphins excrete a lot, the swimming pool in which they are kept is like a "toilet bowl". In order to decontaminate, the hotel adds a lot of chlorine to the water.

Among them, the dolphin named Deva was obviously insane, and another dolphin, Johnny, was blind.

Fortunately, with the help of the staff of the Dolphin Project, they will regain their freedom and return to the sea.

  Suspect number two: plastic

Modus operandi: Good at "camouflage" and easy to be eaten by animals.

In Sardinia, Italy, the body of a pregnant sperm whale was washed ashore. In its belly, plastic garbage weighing 22 kilograms was found.

Marianne, a dugong cub from online celebrity, Thailand, died of illness. Officials say it has a small amount of plastic garbage in its stomach.

There are nearly 30 undigested plastic bags and other plastic wastes in the stomach of the stranded whale carcass in Norway.

Plastic fibers have also been found in the stomachs of crabs in Thames, England. They may have accidentally eaten balloons and sanitary napkins … …

Plastic seems to be the terrible "number one killer" in the water. According to statistics, 90% of marine garbage found on the global coastline is related to plastic products. Bottles, straws and food packaging have become "stains" floating in the ocean.

Because most animals can’t tell plastic garbage from food, every year, 34% of leatherback turtles die by mistake and swallow plastic bags as jellyfish. And some fish are easily attracted by the smell of dimethyl sulfide emitted by plastic soaked for a long time, and mistakenly regard it as prey.

The allen macarthur Foundation of the United Kingdom has predicted that by 2050, the weight of plastic waste in the ocean will catch up with the weight of marine life. What is even more frightening is that plastics cannot be completely degraded in seawater.

  Suspect number three: noise

M.O.: Interfering with the echolocation system, causing a "suicide wave" of whales.

On December 8, 2014, six or seven sperm whales lay motionless on the shore of Paarala Sea Beach in York Peninsula, South Australia.

The locals said, "I think it’s too late to save them. At 8 o’clock in the morning, one of them was still wagging its tail, but now it’s not moving … …”

According to reports, these whales were disturbed by sonar and disoriented before being washed ashore.

However, this is not a case. Noise has become a major suspect in killing them.

In 2009, nine 12-meter-long sperm whales ran aground on the beach in Puglia, Italy, and five of them died, which may be caused by the noise of military exercises or the exploration of seabed deposits.

In July 2002, 66 pilot whales ran aground in Cape Cod Snow, Massachusetts, USA, for the same reason as sonar experiments.

In May 1996, 14 swordsmen whales ran aground on the Greek coast, which is believed to be related to a NATO exercise of the US military … …

Coled, deputy director of the French La Rochelle Marine Mammal Research Center, once pointed out that the acoustic waves emitted by the sonar and echo sounders of warships and the noise of underwater explosions will cause the echo positioning system of whales to be disordered, which is the main reason why whales collectively rushed to the beach.

Animals can’t speak, who will speak for them?

Who is chasing these natural "spirits" and creating one tragedy after another?

In order to protect human partners, many countries and regions have been acting.

  China, Britain, the Netherlands and other countries and regions have successively issued plastic restrictions;

  Canada has specially set up a coastal guard to protect the marine environment;

The United Nations has adopted relevant resolutions, proposing that the underwater noise generated by human activities … …

Documentary director rob stewart has witnessed the bloody scene of illegal whaling, and has since stopped aiming at the dreamy underwater world. Many of the information he photographed on the impact of illegal shark fin trading, after being made public, directly promoted the process of the Costa Rican government’s introduction of relevant laws.

Christian Waters, an advertising designer, saw that there was a lot of garbage left on the beautiful beach, so he began to study the influence of marine garbage on animals, and finally created a public service advertisement, which was promoted by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).

Waters said that animals can’t speak, so humans must speak for them.

The spring in Huanggang Mountain is low-key but extraordinary. A clear water is a mirror, reflecting the colors of seasonal changes clearly. The vitality of the stream is growing, and "Ding Ding Dong Dong" hums a little song and comes to the stone bridge, turning it into a waterfall and a flowing spring. Tourists go hiking with backpacks, whisper the spring breeze in their ears, and have a direct conversation with spring.

Sanqu stone forest, karst landform glows with new green. All kinds of animal-shaped limestone, either short trees or weeds, have made a natural and wonderful "stone-attached bonsai" in Langlang Spring. Until April, the purple sparrows on the vines are crawling all over the hillside, hanging in strings, and the birds are flying, which is spectacular.

The police helped save the day, and the elderly and children returned home safely.

■ Our reporter Lu Zengan correspondent Le Xue

The little boy almost got lost when riding in the community garden. Fortunately, after being discovered by enthusiastic citizens, he asked the patrolman for help in time to find his family. One of the two old people fell and was injured, and the other was lost for three days. With the help of the police, they were safely reunited with their families … On February 23, several accidents occurred in Liangqing area, which were saved by the timely and proper disposal of Liangqing police.
The little boy rode away while his family was not looking.
"Thank you! Help me find my grandson, and we will take good care of the children in the future … "On February 23rd, the auxiliary police of Jinxiang Police Station, the special patrol brigade of Liangqing Public Security Bureau, helped a lost child to go home safely, and the family members thanked him again and again. It turned out that at about 11 o’clock that day, Lin Linfu and Chris Huang, the auxiliary police officers of the Golden Elephant Police Station, carried out patrol prevention and control work in the area under their jurisdiction. When they patrolled to the vicinity of Wuxiang Automobile Life Square on Dongfeng Road in the area under their jurisdiction, they received help from the masses, saying that a little boy was playing alone, without an adult around him, and he was suspected of being lost.
After receiving the report, Lin Linfu and Huang Qiang Hua immediately came forward to understand the situation and found the little boy. It was cold and drizzling, and the little boy sat nervously in the security booth near the square. Seeing this situation, Lin Linfu squatted down and took the little boy’s hand to calm his emotions, patiently communicated with him, and asked his parents for contact information. Because of his young age, the little boy can only answer the names of himself and his grandfather, and other information can’t be provided. In order to help the little boy find his parents quickly, Lin Linfu decided to take the little boy back to the police station first.
Soon, the police successfully contacted the little boy’s grandfather, Yu Mousun, and informed the child about the situation. Twenty minutes later, Yu Mousun hurried to the police station to pick up the little boy. It was learned that the little boy was originally riding in the garden of the community, leaving the community by bike while adults were not paying attention. Fortunately, with the help of enthusiastic people and the police, there was no danger.
An 80-year-old man fell to the side of the road and suffered a head injury.
Coincidentally, at 10 o’clock in the morning, Tan Jiangang, a policeman from Wuxiang Police Station of the Special Patrol Brigade of Liangqing Public Security Bureau, led the team members to conduct normal patrols in the jurisdiction and found an 80-year-old man falling on the side of the road. Tan Jiangang went forward to check the situation and found that the old man had a head injury and blood oozing out because his head was facing down when he fell. The situation was urgent. Tan Jiangang quickly sent the old man to a nearby hospital for treatment with a police car.
In the hospital, Tan Jiangang accompanied the old man for examination and patiently communicated with the medical staff until his family arrived. After preliminary examination, the old man’s body is not serious. Before leaving, Tan Jiangang patiently handed over the precautions to the elderly family members, and reminded them to accompany their families as much as possible to prevent accidents.
The old man went out shopping alone for 3 days and didn’t return.
"Please rest assured that we will send the elderly home safely." Recently, Nanxiao Police Station of Nanning Public Security Bureau received an alarm saying that a lost old man was found in Taima Village of Nanxiao Town, and he was unwilling to talk to the villagers. After receiving the police, Chen Xi immediately drove to Taima Village to find the old man.
When the old man saw the police, he gradually relaxed his vigilance and accepted the bread and water handed by the police. It is understood that the old man went out from home to go shopping in the town alone, and somehow he went to Taima Village in Nanxiao Town. When the police asked him about his home address and children’s names, the old man’s language was vague and could not tell the specific situation. After many efforts, I finally got in touch with the family of the old man.
It is understood that the old man has been away from home for three days, and his family is very anxious and looking around. When the police brought the old man back safely, the family’s hanging heart finally relaxed, and a happy smile appeared on their faces, and they thanked the police for their help.

It is difficult for residents in Daxing, Beijing to go to work: four modes of travel are inconvenient, and residents call for this kind of car.

In 2016, Mr. Zhang lived in Mantingchun Community, Caiyu Town, Daxing. Since then, he has to take the government commuter bus to work in the city every day, with a one-way distance of about 45 kilometers. In recent years, with the development of Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei integration, the permanent population of Caiyu Town has soared, and the travel needs of residents have seriously exceeded the carrying capacity of commuter cars.
There is a long queue at the starting station of picking and breeding in the city.
None of the four modes of travel is convenient.
The commuter car in Mr. Zhang’s mouth was opened by the Caiyu Town Government around 2014. Commuters use regular long-distance buses, and each bus is limited to 55 passengers. Every morning from 6: 00 to 8: 30, there are 10 buses from Caiyu Central Primary School to the city, passing through the Beijing-Shanghai Expressway, and directly reaching the vicinity of Shilihe subway station. According to Mr. Zhang, if there are no unexpected situations such as traffic jams, this journey only takes 40 minutes.
But in fact, the capacity of commuter bus in the morning is far from meeting the needs of residents in Caiyu Town. According to Mr. Zhang’s statistics, at present, the number of people who commute to work in Caiyu Town every day is about 2,000, but ten shuttle buses can only transport 550 people. Getting on the government shuttle bus on time every day has become the greatest wish of the breeder every day.
At the Caiyu Central Primary School at the bus departure station, Mr. Zhang told the reporter: "In order to get on the bus at 7: 00 in the morning, I started waiting for the bus half an hour in advance, but the queue number has exceeded 100." Mr. Zhang said while showing photos to reporters.
When the reporter visited the site, he found that although the commuter bus has several stations in Caiyu Town, each station radiates to crowded areas such as schools and communities, most people will choose to queue up at the departure station. If the commuter bus is full at the starting station, it is even more difficult to get on the bus from the next few stations. "Now, not only Caiyu Town, but also people in other areas are convenient. Driving to the starting station in the morning to grab a car with us will make our pressure even greater."
Many people queue up hopelessly, give up commuting cars and look for carpooling opportunities.
Mr. Ma, who works in the West Fourth Ring Road, has the same feeling. In order to catch the government bus on time every day, he usually arrives at the bus departure station before 7 o’clock. Even so, it takes an hour to get on the bus. Mr. Ma used to drive himself to work, but the fuel consumption cost of going back and forth for more than 70 kilometers a day was too high. "If you can’t sit at the starting station of the shuttle bus after 7: 30, you can only choose to carpool or take a black car to the city." The reporter learned that carpooling is very common in picking and breeding. There are five carpooling groups in Mr. Ma’s WeChat, each with 500 people. "Even carpooling is very difficult, and people are full as soon as the car stops at the roadside."
If you can’t catch up with the bus and carpooling, and the cost of driving to work is too high, then there is only one last way to go to work from Caiyu: customized buses such as "catching the bus". Mr. Zhang remembers that he took the "catching the bus" to work, and the bus was stopped by the traffic police twice on the way.
Always ask when you see the bus coming.
In addition to the morning rush hour, the evening rush hour is not easy. At the rush hour last weekend, the reporter went to the starting station of Jinsong to check the situation. Compared with a few years ago, there was still no sign on the commuter car for picking and breeding on the path in front of the Fulton apartment. Passengers routinely lined up here, and the team was very messy. And some unidentified buses are also attracting customers.
At about 6 pm, the number of people waiting in line exceeded 60. Many people can tell from the length of the queue whether they can get on the next bus. The passengers showed the reporter a departure schedule. The departure interval ranged from 15 minutes to half an hour, but it happened that the departure interval was widened during the rush hour. For example, after 6: 50 pm, the next departure time was 7: 30 pm, with an interval of 40 minutes.
Worried about the long interval between commuter trains, there are alternatives, but they are not formal. In the queue of carpooling, some people are handing out leaflets and enthusiastically introducing other modes of riding. The reporter saw at the scene that some irregular buses would appear in people’s sight from time to time. In the passenger’s words, as long as it is a bus to collect and cultivate, everyone wants to take it, and the fare of some cars is lower than that of the government commuter bus.
According to the driver of the government commuter bus, the commuter bus has been in a state of "losing money". They also know that passengers have a desire to add a car, but it is difficult at present, because there is no commuter car parking lot near Jinsong, and it is impossible to start in the opposite direction. As for whether the departure time can be adjusted, "it needs to be decided by Caiyu Town".
Residents look forward to commuting by bus.
The starting station returning from the urban area to collect and cultivate is overcrowded.
The reporter learned that there are three bus lines passing through Caiyu Town, but the set route is not convenient for office workers. The first is Xing 32, which passes through Yizhuang subway station, which is convenient for Caiyu residents to transfer to the subway process. However, it takes about 2 hours to get from Caiyu to Yizhuang, followed by 940, which starts from Caiyu all the way west, passes through Daxing Huangcun subway station, and finally passes through Jiugong subway station. Although both trains pass through the subway, they do not take the high speed. For passengers, it takes time to take the bus.
Many residents told reporters that the permanent population of Caiyu Town has surged in the past two years, but the number of commuter buses has never increased, and other modes of travel are inconvenient, so the problem of difficult travel needs to be solved urgently.
The reporter was informed that as early as 2016, it was reported that the government’s commuter bus was going to be reformed, which means that the commuter bus can not only run all day, but also the departure interval is greatly shortened, which is undoubtedly good news. However, in response to a reporter recently, the Caiyu Town Government said that the related issues of commuting bus are still in the discussion stage. Although residents often ask about this matter, the specific time is still uncertain.

Make jokes! Adding a zero to Lyft’s earnings outlook led to a sharp rise in the stock price and then retreated after clarification.

The share price of Lyft, an American online car company, soared 67% after hours. The company had previously predicted that the adjusted profit was 11% higher than the analyst’s forecast, and predicted that the profit margin would increase by 500 basis points in the initial press release. But the company later called the profit margin forecast a clerical error.

In a conference call with analysts, Erin Brewer, chief financial officer of Lyft, said that the company expected the profit margin to increase by 50 basis points instead of 500, and admitted that the figures in the press release were wrong. A company spokesman later called this a "clerical error" and said that the company had corrected this error in the documents submitted later.

After-hours share prices immediately retreated most of the gains. "This is an epic disaster," Wedbush Securities analyst Dan Ives said in an email. "I have never seen a mistake like this in my nearly 25 years of Wall Street career."

In fact, both Lyft and Uber released strong performance reports this quarter, indicating that the overall passenger demand continued to grow after a sharp decline nationwide during the epidemic. The two companies have invested huge sums of money to recruit and retain enough drivers to meet the surge in order demand. David Risher, CEO of Lyft, who took office less than a year ago, focused his operations on customer satisfaction and emphasized returning to the basics to narrow the gap with Uber. Lyft has spent millions of dollars to attract drivers, but it faces difficulties in increasing passengers.

Lyft said in a statement on Tuesday that the adjusted profit for the first three months of this year is expected to be as high as $55 million, exceeding analysts’ expectations of $49.5 million. The transaction volume of rides excluding tips will be between 3.5 billion and 3.6 billion US dollars, which is higher than the estimated 3.48 billion US dollars.

Lyft’s total orders in the fourth quarter increased by 17% year-on-year to $3.72 billion, higher than the forecast of $3.67 billion. Revenue increased by 4% year-on-year to $1.22 billion, in line with expectations.

Lyft said that the number of active users on its platform increased by 10% year-on-year to 22.4 million in the fourth quarter. Lyft had more than 40 million passengers last year, setting an annual record.

But Lyft still lags behind Uber. According to the data of market research company YipitData, since the second quarter of 2022, the company’s share in the American online car market is about 30%, while Uber’s is 70%. Uber announced its first annual profit since its IPO last week, and said that the number of trips in the quarter increased by 24% to 2.6 billion.
